The following is an overview of how my design process usually works. I say usually because there are always exceptions to the rules and sometimes projects can take on a different course.
1. The first step is the initial meeting. Most of the time the meeting is a phone call or email, but if possible I like to try and schedule a face-to-face meeting in order to get a better feel for what will be required for the project.
2. Brainstorming and research are the second step. After learning about the project I like to take time and research the project. After the research comes the brainstorming part. I'm old school when it comes to this. I like to get a stack of paper and a pencil and go at it. Trying to come up with as many possible solutions to the design as I can. I then weed through the good and the bad to arrive at a short list of possible outcomes.
3. After I have selected rough thumbnails I will refine them either on the computer or paper for you to view and choose between. Sometimes a design jumps out as "the one" and other times it may be particular things about a few that will work together to create the right look and feel.
4. The next step is the production of the design. I will take the selected design and create it in the proper format for usage.
5. Revisions are usually the fifth step. There always seems to be a few tweaks here or there to make the design better.
6. Finished art. The final stage is the finished art. I will prepare the final art in files so that they are ready to go into use. I will also provide you with a hard copy of the file and I will always be willing to help out in any way with making your final design work the way you intended.
